1.
|
Grip the hoop at the red end sections.
The chain must hang freely from the hoop as shown.
Unravel any entangled part of the chain.
Open hoop to maximum width.
|
2.
|
Place the expanded hoop. |
3.
|
Over the tyre. |
4.
|
Push red hoop ends fully behind the tyre pulling
downwards until the hoop springs together, when
released, behind the tyre.
Note
a. If you have the hoop only partly behind
the tyre the chain will fall off the tyre.
b. If there is any surplus of tensioning chain in
front of you this is an indication that the hoop has not
been pushed fully to the back of the tyre.
|
5.
|
The red coloured Circumferential Chain MUST be
evenly spaced around the wheel (see illustration).
Move vehicle one quarter of the turn of the wheel - forwards or backwards
- moving SLOWLY so that the chain does not fall off.
|
6.
|
Pull the gold coloured tensioning chain firmly
around the tyre tread.
|
7.
|
Pull the tensioning chain through the lockplate
until the chain net is fairly tight onto the tyre
tread.
Secure the tensioning chain into the slot of the
lockplate (see 8).
Pull the tensioning chain in the direction to
retain it in the lockplate slot (see 8).
|
8.

|
Very Important
Tensioning chain must be locked in the slot of the locking plate.
|
| Direction
of pull on tensioning chain. |
Wrong
Tensioning chain must not remain in the circular part of the locking
plate. In this arrangement the tensioning chain is not locked and damage
could occur to your vehicle. |
9.
|
Thread the tensioning chain in and out around
the red circumferential chain maintaining tension.
Hook the fastener under tension onto the red chain.
Check the tension of the chain net on the tyre.
The chain should be about 1/2 inch slack over tread
of the tyre (enough room to slip two fingers between
the chain net and the tread of the tyre).
If the chains are too slack unravel the chain,
release it from the locking plate and tension the
chain tighter.
Drive for 50 yards then CHECK TENSION OF CHAIN
NET AGAIN. It is likely that the chain may
have loosened following initial fitting.

|
Position the car so that the lockplate is roughly
level with the centre of the wheel.
Unhook then unravel the gold coloured tensioning
chain from the red circumferential chain.
Disengage chain from lockplate, pull through tension
chain to the last link then re-engage it in the
lockplate slot.
|
11.
|
Grip the centre of the chain net above the lockplate
and pull towards you shaking it firmly.
|
12.
|
When visible, grip red end section of hoop, ease
chain over the top of the tyre and lower chain
to the ground.
Ensure chain is positioned so that you do not
drive over red end sections of chain hoop, where
the swivel roller is located.
Drive car off chain.
